Outage Priorities at Home

Keep Home RunningWhen Power Goes Out

An outage can stop cooling, spoil food, and cut off the internet. Backup power should cover the systems your household cannot go without.

Homes connected to Woodruff-Roebuck Water District may not depend on a well pump for household water, while some properties farther out do. That difference can change which circuits belong in the backup plan and how the generator is sized.

Without refrigeration, groceries can spoil and some medicines may need another safe storage option. Lights, a garage-door opener, and charging help the household keep moving through an outage.

If your home depends on a well pump, an outage can stop running water. Wi-Fi, charging, security equipment, and remote-work tools can also be worth keeping on.

Key equipment may need power at the same time, not one item at a time. If the generator is too small for those combined loads, you may have to turn off one priority to use another.

The RightFirst Standard

Why RightFirst MattersA Better Finished Installation

The RightFirst Standard means the generator, electrical work, and fuel supply have to function as one finished system. We coordinate the job from planning through startup so you are not left managing separate pieces.

01

Matched for Your Household

We size around the loads you want available and the extra demand created when motors start. That keeps the generator and transfer equipment matched to the way your household will actually use backup power.

02

Clean Work That Belongs

A generator installation should not leave your home looking patched together. We take care with routing and connections, keep the equipment accessible for service, and leave the work area clean.

03

A Clear Handoff

Before we leave, we test automatic operation and explain the system in plain language. You know what normal operation looks like and who to call when the generator needs service later.

  • One-Team CoordinationElectrical work, fuel piping, and equipment setup stay under one roof.
  • Startup & Transfer TestingWe start the system, test transfer operation, and explain how it works.
  • 3-Year Workmanship GuaranteeCovered workmanship is backed in writing.

Generator Questions

Straight Answers Before You Install

What generator size does my home need?

We size a generator around the equipment you need to run and the loads that may operate together. Motors such as AC equipment and a well pump can draw extra power at startup. Square footage alone does not determine the right size.

Can a standby generator power my whole home?

Whole-home backup may be possible, but it depends on your electrical demand, major equipment, and the generator selected. Selected-load backup keeps power focused on chosen essentials. We base either approach on what you need to keep operating during an outage.

What does an automatic transfer switch do?

An automatic transfer switch senses a utility outage and signals the generator to start. It safely separates generator power from the utility line and switches the home to generator power. When utility power returns, it transfers the home back.

Can my generator use natural gas or propane?

We verify natural-gas availability and capacity for your exact address. Propane can suit some properties when natural gas is not available or is not the best fit. The fuel supply must be sized for the generator's demand.

Where can the generator be installed?

We choose a location that meets manufacturer clearance requirements, allows proper airflow, and provides service access. Your lot, equipment, and local requirements determine the final location.

Will generator installation require permits and inspections?

Inside Woodruff city limits, the City has its own Building Official. Outside the city, the project may fall under Spartanburg County, where separate electrical and building permits and inspections can apply. We identify the correct authority and handle the required process for your address.

How are startup and ongoing maintenance handled?

After installation, we test startup and transfer operation before the system is placed in service. We explain basic operation. Maintenance needs follow manufacturer guidance and operating conditions.

Will Dave's support the generator after installation?

We provide maintenance and repair support for standby generators within our service scope. Parts and repair options depend on the equipment, its age, and its condition.
